Bio/Artist Statement
Anna Caruso is a multimedia artist in Brooklyn, NY. She is classically trained in photography, earning an AA from the New England School of Photography (Boston, MA). She earned her BA Summa Cum Laude, with double majors in Visual Arts, and Spanish Language and Culture from Eastern Connecticut State University (Willimantic, CT). She completed her MFA at Brooklyn College (Brooklyn, NY) in 2022, winning multiple grants to support her practice and education. Since graduating, she has participated in several group exhibitions in Brooklyn, including at Amos Eno Gallery, Greenpoint Gallery, and Brooklyn Waterfront Artist Coalition.
Her work is a visual representation of processing experienced trauma and the accompanying desire to facilitate healing and understanding. An avid scholar with extensive coursework in fields including psychology, biology, and political science, she takes a holistic approach to creating work. Selecting various mediums, her works involve repetitive and meditative continuing motions in construction and mark making. She follows her intuition throughout, trusting the process.
